Skin Peels

There are 3 categories of chemical peels:- light, medium and deep. They all have one thing in common and that is they remove the top layer of the skin. At welwyn aesthetic clinic we offer light and medium peels only.

Glycolic Peels (light peel)

The application of a glycolic peel (70% or 90%) can produce excellent results for the following skin condions:

• Dull, oily or leathery skin texture

• Enlarged pores

• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Active acne and acne scarring

• Sun damaged skin

• Mild pigment irregularities

The treatment process removes the upper dead layer of the skin - the stratum corneum. A solution of glycolic acid is applied to the skin (Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane and is a natural product) and left for 3-10 minutes, before being washed off and a neutralising solution applied. There will be a slight pinkness to the skin, most people return to a normal skin colour that same day. There really is no recovery period.

It is particularly effective when used in conjunction with IPL skin rejuvenation.


TCA Skin Peels (medium Peels)

A medium peel works in the same way as a mild peel but it simply peels to a deeper level so is suitable for treatment of deeper lines and wrinkles. You can expect some mild swelling and some light peeling (similar to mild sunburn) for 3-5 days.

The Easy TCA Skin Peel is designed to be used to fight the most noticeable signs of photoageing, such as little lines and dry, uneven skin colour\tone. The peels are applied, one week apart and four skin peels are required.

The Easy TCA Skin Peel can also be used to treat acne and acne scarring, and areas on the hands, forearms, neck and décolletage.
